Choose an age band
Start with a broad, typical sleep range.

Check a departure against broad nap windows by age, then decide whether another flight time is worth comparing.
A little planning goes a long way
Start with a broad, typical sleep range.

Add departure time and flight length.

See whether the trip overlaps a usual nap.
Choose an age band, then add the departure time and flight length.
These ranges are broad planning references, not a prediction for a specific child. Routines and travel days vary.
| Age band | Typical nap window |
|---|---|
| 0–3 months | Frequent naps, often after about 1–2 hours awake; difficult to plan around one fixed window. |
| 4–6 months | About 9–10 am, 12–1 pm, and 3–4 pm (often three naps). |
| 6–9 months | About 9 am and 1 pm (often two or three naps). |
| 9–14 months | About 9–10 am as a morning nap shrinks, and 12:30–2 pm. |
| 14 months–3 years | About 12:30–2:30 pm (often one nap). |
| 3–5 years | About 1–2 pm quiet time, if any; many children have dropped naps. |
| 5+ years | Most children no longer have a regular daytime nap. |

Compare the flight period with broad sleep windows for the selected age band.

Keep the general nap range in view; children’s own routines can differ.

If the flight overlaps, use the note to compare an earlier or later departure.
